Real Train is owned and operated by Pramod Agrawal of Nashik, India. He claims to be an honest man seeking to expand his business into the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia and also claims to be the manufacturer of high quality steam engines of his design. Both are incorrrect.
First, Pramod tried to pass two steam engine designs off as designs of his own but I found the designs to be those of Elmer Verburg and were published in his book, Elmer's Engines. In fact, Pramod does not have the legal right to reproduce these designs. His response was to make a few components look different but the mechanical parts are the same. This is against international copyright law and anybody trying to sell these is open to a lawsuit by the estate of Mr. Verburg. Pramod claims to own many designs, all of which are published in this book.
Next, pramod claims to manufacture high quality products. Again, not quite accurate. I bought two samples of two designs (not knowing that he didn't have legal right to these designs) and one of them came apart after running for less than three minutes. The tolerances were very poor. He promised to rectify this and said he hired an experienced machinist to oversee the manufacturing process. I somehow doubt this ever happened.
I agreed to buy 50 engines of one of the designs and paid half up front so Pramod could buy materials in early August 2007. His promise was to produce these and ship them via air freight on my FedEx account in one month. That one month came and went and he supposedly experienced problems. This went on and on. When I began claiming very loudly that I was being screwed (and missing the Christmas season altogether), he said he would ship what he had but then, AGAIN, had a problem. He said his crew wasn't careful with the engines and they were scratched up but he would, at his expense - such a nice guy, powder coat these. At this point, I'm very frustrated and want what I paid for so I told him to do what he needed to do. After another month, he said he could only ship me 34 of the remaining engines. I paid the rest of the fee for the second half of the amount for the engines (less now since he couldn't produce the 50 we agreed on). After 25 days, he had not shipped these (again, problems) so I filed a grievance with PayPal to recover the remainder of my money but he still holds on to my deposit and money for a web site.
Wouldn't you know it. He did finally send the engines after PayPal took the money away from him. I paid him what PayPal took from him when they showed up, which was a mistake. I began to look them over and they were in terrible condition. The powder coating is bad with bubbles in it, they are very inconsistent, a few had pieces missing, and they don't work. Not a single one! Absolute crap! The first sample engines did have problems, but they are nice looking and run well once I made some repairs. There's just no way the same person created these. Now that I am asking for a refund for such a crappy product, I get absolutely no response, which is why this web page exists. I think I will have to update the other pages with detailed examples of how bad it really is. Please stay tuned.
If you have been approached by this scammer for steam engines, crowns, embroidery, or his wife's web site design, feel free to contact me at fordcraftsmanstudios@charter.net and I'll fill you in. I hate to see anybody else get screwed. In fact, I'd like to set up a page with people who decide NOT to do business with this cheat after finding my page. My promise has been to cost him much more money than he stole from me!
Timeline of lies:
September 4, 2007 – “The 50 engines should be ready by early next week”
October 4, 2007 – “The guys made the bottom very bad” “I scrapped all and have asked them to make all 50 once again”
October 10, 2007 – “We will have to work faster to make best of this Christmas season. I hope to have all the engines ready by day after. My guys have promised me Wednesday evening. :-)”
October 17, 2007 – “All of the 50 engines are ready and 15 have ran for more than 3 hours each”
October 27, 2007 – “The engines are ready now but they are not looking very attractive”
November 13, 2007 – “I have sent the engines for powder coating today.” “So by Monday or Tuesday, the engines will be ready to be shipped”
December 11. 2007 – “I have 38 engines completed ready and powder coated to be shipped to you.”
February 8, 2007 – “I have arranged for the papers and engines will be positively dispatched by Monday. I will send you the tracking no. by your Monday morning”
March 2007 - Engines show up after I call him in India and threaten the local police. The engines are crap and not a single one will run. They have been powder coated
and have bubbles int he coating. There are milling errors in several areas and the tolerances are absolutely awful. Pramod claims to have run them all for 3 hours each
but that is absolutely crap. Just to prove it, I tried to run one with 100 pounds of air and the fit is so bad that the air just moves out. I found a critical flaw in
each and every one of them. Perhaps I'll shoot pictures and put them on here. What a waste of time and money.
My money was sent to the PayPal account of Ananaya Web Solutions Inc. at disha@ananayaweb.com. This is the email address of Pramod's wife, Disha Agrawal who runs a web site development company called Ananya Web Solutions, Inc. Since they took my money through their account, this company is also considered to be part of the fraud and should also be avoided.
